About us
This franchise of Culligan originally began offering quality water treatment solutions in 1947 in Tularosa, NM. In 1958, Larry Shaw acquired the business and relocated it to 10th St. in Alamogordo, NM to better meet the needs of the community. Larry, a World War II veteran who served in the 755th Field Artillery attachment to the 101st Airborne division, found his long-term residence in Alamogordo, NM. He actively engaged in community service, participating in various boards and committees for Alamogordo and H.A.F.B. In 1979, Larry built a specially designed building on S. Florida St. where the business operated until 2000. In 1985, he retired and transferred ownership of the business to his son Matt Shaw, who, with a flair for business and support from his wife Mary Ann Shaw, continued his father's legacy of providing affordable water treatment and contributing positively to the community. In 1999, Matt and Mary Ann sold the business to focus on their interests in teaching and coaching in Cloudcroft, NM. In 2018, they made the decision to reacquire the franchise and restore it to its previous prominence. This narrative is not merely a recount of history; it serves as a testament to how this business and family have strong connections within this community and deeply care for the residents and our active duty members stationed at H.A.F.B.
